Skateboarding has progressed from a pastime that was largely enjoyed by teenagers to a legitimate sport and creative outlet. It’s not enough for a lot of passionate skateboarders to simply make their way around town. They want to indulge in exciting stunts, challenging themselves to try new things. Of course, that means that skateboarders also want something new from the boards themselves. These come in the form of electric skateboards, or motorized skateboards. For some, the idea of using an electric skateboard is a bit daunting — or maybe they’re hesitant about the idea of reinventing a skateboard in the first place. But there are many advantages to using electric skateboards, and the typical electric skateboard price may be much more affordable than you might think. For that matter, an electric skateboard is a great investment for those who are passionate about skateboarding, but bored with the typical skateboards. Electric powered skateboards are a part of a new trend of electrically powered sports equipment, including electric powered longboards as well. Below, we’ll look into why electric skateboards are making waves — and for that matter, why skateboarding in itself is so valued by the general public today.

Who Skateboards Right Now?

Like we mentioned earlier, skateboarding used to be considered a part of counterculture; some even associated it with the “punk” movement. But the fact is that skateboarding is so widely used in this day and age that 11 million people now report using skateboards on a regular basis. Of course, some people are more passionate about skateboarding than others, with “core skaters” skateboarding at least 26 times a year, whereas a casual skater skates one to 25 times a year. About 50% of skateboarders are from the United States, and the country has around 500 skate parks now. Skating has long been thought of as a largely male sport, but in fact 23.9% of all skaters are female. Additionally, 16.6% of all core skaters are female. Though it’s true that this means that 77.1% of all skaters and 83.4% of core skaters are male, it’s quite possible that the future holds greater opportunity for more female skaters to enter the game. And the more new core skaters there are, the more there is a desire for new challenges, and with them new products. One of the reasons why skaters are more comfortable with paying the typical electric skateboard price is that electric skateboards are able to traverse different types of terrain. They aren’t just meant for skate parks.

Why Are Skaters Getting Out Of Skate Parks?

Skate parks aren’t the only places that skaters like to frequent in this day and age. This isn’t to say that skaters are turning away from skate parks completely. Rather, that they like to try new things in order to challenge themselves. Off road skating is quickly gaining popularity among skaters who like to try new things. For one thing, skaters like the idea of changes in terrain, as it allows them to try new stunts. For another, off road skating means a greater degree of unpredictability in the landscape. This type of skating might not be for newbies, but it could be great for the types of skaters who want a change from the typical monotony that using the same skate parks over and over can cause. But with that being said, electric skateboards are far more equipped for off road skating than typical skateboards.

Why Use An Electric Skateboard?

With the electric skateboard price comes a number of new capabilities. Electric skateboards have the type of gear and force that can handle the uphill changes of natural terrain. For that matter, sometimes electric skateboard prices include warranties that cover damages to those skateboards. Again, it’s important to note that electric skateboards aren’t necessarily right for everyone; they’re for people who are ready to handle off road skating. But if you’re careful, the power and durability of electric skateboards can allow you to try a number of new things.
